Charging cables

The charging of electric vehicles depends on the electrical output of the charging connection, the charging technology installed in the vehicle and the size of the vehicle battery. A decisive factor for short charging times is the design of the charging cable. Leoni has launched a new generation of AC charging cables with its two innovations LEONI EcoSense® Nxt and LEONI EcoSense® Nxt+.

Current carrying capacity
The cables are designed for the optimal current carrying capacity for the respective application. This reduces the cable cross-section. In total, the total weight of the Leoni EcoSense® Nxt is reduced by six percent, and by 20 percent for the Leoni EcoSense® Nxt+. The diameter of the Leoni EcoSense® Nxt portfolio is on average four percent smaller than the previous generation, and by nine percent for the Leoni EcoSense® Nxt+.

Application
The entire LEONI EcoSense® Nxt and LEONI EcoSense® Nxt+ series is generally suitable for the following areas of application:

  • Mode 1 application: AC charging at a socket
  • Mode 2 application: AC charging at a mobile charging station
  • Mode 3 application: AC charging at a stationary charging station

 

The cables are not suitable for the following areas of application:

  • Mode 4 application: DC charging at a direct current charging station (these are usually customer-specific cables)
